Rotary learns about the Junior League

The Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield was founded in 1923, the same year Rotary was established.   Rotary and the Junior League share a commitment to serving the community as well as a birth date.  At the Rotary meeting on June 6, Christine Martinez, President of the Junior League outlined many of the projects undertaken by the local chapter of the group whose mission is to promote volunteerism and develop the potential of women.   Proceeds from the Jumble Store, a non-profit thrift store that is operated by the Junior League at 110 Walnut Street in Cranford, fund projects such as the Career Closet which outfits women returning to the workforce with  free business attire, and the Buddyflies Tween/Teen Empowerment Event.  For more information visit www.jlebnj.org or email cmm5555555@gmail.com.
